Fresh New Gorillaz Cut

Superfast Jellyfish. Yep, it's the new Gorillaz tune off the upcoming Plastic Beach (to be released March 9th). The electronic-pop-hip hop virtual band headed by britpop legend Damon Albarn has conjured up a quirky and bright track featuring De La Soul and Gruff Rhys, of the Super Furry Animals. The song begins with an advertisement for a "piping hot" breakfast seeming fit for the fifties. The song then, rolls right into some classic De La Soul-esque hip hop. With a groovy backing track, the old school rappers rhyme, "All hail king Neptune and his water breathers/No snail thing to quick for his water feeders." The song then swings into the chorus, which is delivered by Albarn, and sugarcoated with Rhys. As you are jamming to this finely crafted tune, you will feel like you're gettin' into to all types of shenanigans with Spongebob and his buddies, trust me. Overall, this song just shows how much turf Albarn rules when it comes to pop. 9/10 for sure.
